I hope you’ll forgive me for using this audiobook for this week’s Teaser Tuesday as well as today’s Book Beginning; it was just too good not to use. I love this beginning.

Hot, thought the Parisians. The warm air of spring. It was night, they were at war and there was an air raid.

Lovely. And sad.

  1. A wonderful beginning. Suite Francaise was a favorite several years ago.

  2. I finally read “Suite Francaise” about a year ago. It was quite good. It really makes you wonder what we’d be reading from Ms.Némirovsky had she not met her end so young. So sad.

    I actually finished the book I wrote my Book Beginnings post about, so now I’m working through “To the End of the Land.”
